Heart sight
How does one “see” with the “heart”?
Actually I do it all the time. But, in most cases it occurs so fast, that I don’t know that it happened.
I react /respond by how I “feel” a situation will affect me… is it safe, are they kind, what do they want… based on what I have experienced as a child.
These feelings and more are checked/felt by the “heart” within a thousandth of a second and from the feeling that arises, I then react with the actions I have learned to take.
Unless I can slow down and recognize the reason I feel a certain way about something, I will always react in the same habitual way.
With assistance, I start to recognize the emotional experiences that I have “taken to heart” and have been buried, forgotten and denied. These early repressed impressions have been the core beliefs that my brain/mind used to form the surface reactions, attitudes and habits that I rigidly believed to be the safe and smart way to judge, measure and decide how to be in the world.
Eventually, through a recontextualization of experiences, my beliefs begin to change along with my state of mind and so to, the way I see and interact with the world “outside”. With more clarity and awareness, along with letting go past habits and conditioning, I am able to see “differently”. I still see what I project, but my “state of mind” is more serene, peaceful and accepting … because my understanding is, too.
When I can “see” what I feel and why, then I have a chance to clear, act or respond differently in a more “aware of the cause” and “choosing to do differently” way!
